Well in the case of D2 it was the aforementioned patch 1.10 You did not have to worry about ladders or timing. One of the greatest parts of the original, was you could get on, and BLAM you were there with everyone, friend and foe alike. I believe that is inherently bad game design. I believe a great game is a game you don’t need to restart every 3 months. Well, blizzard used to be a company that had a way with game systems. You might be thinking: “What does that have to do with ladders?” White rings, broken charms, hacked items, infinite duplicated SOJ’s. Many people don’t remember quite how bad it was. Where the biggest issue to D2 were the botters and hackers. I grew up in a world where diablo had no cow king penalty. I played before patch 1.10 which I feel was a major turning point in the game. I wanted to put it out there to get the feedback of others. I don’t think anything I post here will actually change the development team’s mind in any way, but there was still a very pungent thought rolling through my head. First, I would like to start by saying I grew up playing diablo 2 on my ancient flat pc on dial-up internet. ![]()
